Po Po's Ponchos is a bit of a tongue twister for the adults to say... but it sure is cute when your little one says "mom where is my Po Po". Which is what I envisioned when I was designing the poncho's and naming the company, Po Po's is also Chinese for Grandma. My daughter who was the inspiration for the ponchos as well as the first model and also my color fashion consultant at times.... which is why there is a lot of purple and pink. Po Po's was originally dreamed up & planned during my pregnancy to keep myself busy when I couldn't run & bike in my spare time. As a marketing person I always had a passion for the creative side of business. Friends kept stealing the proto-types before I could even get changes to patterns done, but I guess that was a good thing. Eventually I had to start telling them I wasn't making them anymore... just to build my stock up. The fun part for me at first was picking fabric, coming up with the "poncho flavor" and hanging them in my little home office to look at and feel proud about. Now I love drumming up PR, creating ads & going to shows, talking to my customers and seeing kids dancing around in their ponchos!

Originally I was going to sell exclusively online and keep the business small and be "a side job". Stores wanted to sell the ponchos and were contacting me from all over Canada & the USA so I made the jump to retail. I realized stores have the ability to get more ponchos on more kids and that's what I wanted. I love the emails I get from moms who are ecstatic that their little one who wouldn't not wear a jacket outside will wear a poncho. Or a mom who thanks me for a fantastic alternative to a blanket for her baby that slips off in the stroller. My main objectives were fun, funky, convenient, made in Canada and reasonable pricing. I feel that I have been able to meet my objectives without sacrificing quality in anyway. This past 6 months I have started a new line of eco-fleece ponchos as well, using REPRIEVE fleece which is 30% recycled fleece. This will always be something I offer and hopefully will see more growth in that area.

Po Po’s are made in a lightweight micro fleece or a soft CVC fleece (sweatshirt style), available in 8 body colors at any given time. But hold on, the best part is the accent fabric that lines the hood, pocket and trim. For spring, we usually have flowers, poka dots and stripes in various colors and patterns. Fall, brings green, orange and reds sometimes with leaves, symmetrical shapes or abstract patterns. These cozy, easy to get on, fun ponchos will make everyone smile. Snaps on the sides for “make shift” sleeves and a snap at the neckline to allow room to slip it over your little ones head. All the ponchos are named after delicious ice cream flavors and our goal is to reach 101. New styles every month!
